About the Korean Knee Society (KKS)

The Korean Knee Society (KKS) was founded on March 19, 1983, with the goal of advancing academic research and clinical excellence in the field of knee surgery. Since its establishment, KKS has continuously focused on enhancing the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of various knee disorders, including knee osteoarthritis and sports-related injuries to the ligaments, meniscus, and articular cartilage, as well as fractures around the knee joint and other degenerative conditions affecting the knee.

The society held its first Annual Meeting in 1983 and has since organized regular academic conferences every year. Since 1994, the Spring Annual Meeting has been held each May (expanded to a two-day event since 2006), and the Fall Symposium has been held separately every November, rotating locations across regional cities in Korea.

KKS has grown to become the largest subspecialty society under the Korean Orthopaedic Association, with 2,057 members as of June 2025.
